EVACUATIONS of foreign nationals from Lebanon through Cyprus continued until hours before yesterday morning’s ceasefire, with the island now bracing itself to act as a logistic hub for humanitarian aid poised to flow in to the country now that hostilities have ceased.

Cyprus among most expensive tourists packages

CYPRUS has the most expensive tourist packages from the UK from all its competitors in the region except Egypt, a survey in Britain reveals.
According to data from AC Nielsen, the average cost of a one-week package to Egypt costs £608 sterling, with Cyprus coming in second at £598 as of June this year.

TURKISH troops seized a Greek Cypriot fisherman on Sunday while he was snorkelling in the Kappari area off the island’s east coast.
Whether 45-year old Nicos Michael from Dherynia was on the Turkish-claimed side of the maritime security line is disputed.

New season, same old crowd trouble

THERE was trouble on the opening day of the Cypriot football season as rival supporters of Nicosia clubs APOEL and Omonia clashed at the GSP Stadium.

CYPRUS will not be hosting Champions League third qualifying round tie between Maccabi Haifa and Liverpool, according to UEFA officials.
