CyTA deposits for foreigners

Sir,

In response to Kleanthes Grohmann’s letter (Sunday Mail, September 25) complaining about CyTA deposits for foreigners, I have just received a letter from the Ombudswoman’s office regarding my complaint on this very matter. Although I am not completely satisfied with the result, I feel there will now be an improvement in the terms and conditions.

Mr George Kakotas replied to my letter giving me details of the change in CyTA’s policy, which is copied below for everyone to digest and then call into their local CyTA office and receive their refunds:

Following the intervention of the Ombudswoman, CYTA decided to proceed with the following changes to its policy.

Reduce the deposit for mobile phone services from £1,000 to £300. Exempt all subscribers who – regardless of residency status – have been credit worthy customers of the authority for a period of three years.

Extend the residency status criteria, under which it exempts subscribers from the obligation to pay deposits.
