An absurd comparison

Sir,
Mr Christofi in his recent letter to your paper (‘Assimilation the best protection from minority rights’, April 15) has a few things confused.

To compare the situation of immigrants to the UK with that of Turkish Cypriots living in their own country is absurd.

If he finds it appalling that Turkish Cypriots prefer their children to be married to one of their own he should have the courage to ask the same question to Greek Cypriot politicians or the general public in South Cyprus. He would be more appalled.
