Christofias: we might send Annan ‘titles’

HOUSE President Demetris Christofias said yesterday the Greek Cypriot side had not ruled out sending in writing the ‘titles’ of changes they wanted to the Annan plan, but only after a firm commitment for resumption of talks by the UN.

Christofias was speaking during an interview programme on CyBC.

UN Secretary-general Kofi Annan has asked the government to send it writing what changes it wants to the failed plan before any new talks can start. The government has refused until now, saying it does not want to give away its negotiating positions.

However in a small shift from its position Christofias said there was a possibility of sending the titles of the changes but not in any great detail. He said it was not right that the Secretary-general should ask the government to lay down its entire positions before any sign of a resumption of talks and called on Annan not to “play games’ with the Greek Cypriot side.
