Bus crash

EIGHT PEOPLE were taken to Nicosia General Hospital after a bus crashed in Lakatamia yesterday lunchtime.

Ten people were on board when the 58-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposite lane of Makarios Avenue. The bus hit the pavement before crashing into the wall of a confectionery. The wall crumbled, damaging a nearby motorcycle and car.

The bus, which was on the way to the village of Dheftera, sustained unspecified damage.

The injured, among whom was the driver, were later released from hospital, having sustained only minor injuries. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the authorities.
