JCC: don’t forget you’ve changed your PIN

A JCC representative yesterday rubbished reports that members of the public were facing problems with their new microchip credit cards.

According to media reports, Marfin-Laiki Bank had received an influx of complaints by holders of the new cards.

Problems were said to have appeared among cardholders who opted to change the Personal Identification Number (PIN) provided by the bank with a personal one of their choice.

But JCC General Manager Takis Fekkas said the problem was mainly due to cardholders forgetting which PIN to use.

“All the complaints that I am aware of regard people who changed their PIN and then forgot it when they needed to use their card,” Fekkas told the Mail.

“We get at least five or six such cases a day,” he said, adding that the changeover to microchips, or chip-and-PIN cards, was something that all countries faced a few teething problems with.

However, he urged any member of public who may be facing other problems with their cards to contact JCC, who are more than willing to help.
