Don’t hold your breath

Sir,
Did my eyes deceive me? I read a recent article headed “Tax cuts on Cars” which included, and I quote:

“To ease the road tax burden on pensioners, diesel powered vehicles with a passenger capacity of up to eight people will be capped at £175.”

You and your readers will remember that earlier this year the government announced a reduction in road tax to £195 for the above section of the population only to apparently renege on it later, which lead to some fairly strong dialogue between myelf and the appropriate authority.

Let us hope the Road Transport Department will this time honour their commitment.
I await with baited breath…
