Footballer on cocaine charge

POLICE in Limassol have arrested a second division footballer and his wife for possession of cocaine and cannabis.

The 30-year-old man and his wife were arrested on Tuesday night after Drug Squad (YKAN) officers raided his home in Limassol. According to investigators, officers found 117 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of cannabis in his house as well as a weighing scale.
Police are investigating whether the couple are also drug dealers.

Police also arrested a 24-year-old man – who was found with six grams of cannabis on him – but he was released shortly afterwards.

The footballer and his wife were remanded in custody for eight days.

According to police, the 30-year-old refused to answer any questions during questioning, simply telling them “whatever I have to say, I will say to the court”.

Two men, both aged 22, were also in the house but were not arrested or charged by police.
