I couldn’t go anywhere when the pedestrians took over

Sir,

Recently the Mayor of Paphos and others saw fit to have a no-car day in the town centres. I needed to go to the Post Office, not in the town centre, the traffic was jammed back from Paphos to Chloraka.

After a considerable time crawling along in traffic, putting out more pollution than I would usually do for this journey, I gave up and returned home, the next day I did the journey as I would have done the day before – an extra journey.

Where is the saving on pollution?

Today I visited the Mosaics at Paphos harbour, there were about five coaches, parked with their engines running for a couple of hours, using fuel, pushing out fumes and noise, do the drivers not know where the off switch is?

I hear the cry ‘but it is for the air conditioning’, perhaps if the drivers restarted the engines about fifteen minutes before the tourists returned the coach would have cooled down, and less fuel used.
