A NEW state bus service will commence on Monday providing a lifeline for pensioners and villagers of the Laona community. The elderly will be able to use the twice-weekly service for free, which will connect the Akamas villages with Polis Chrysochous hospital. Villagers wishing to use this service will be charged €4 for a single ticket and €6 return. Until now, doctors were visiting the elderly for examinations every two weeks, leaving those without cars to find their own way to the hospital for further tests.
