The book Rodney V. Bird should read

It is obvious that your correspondent, Mr Rodney V. Bird has not read my book The Origins and Evolution of Church – State Relations In Cyprus for the following reasons:

(a) My book was based on my thesis for the degree of Master of Theology which was submitted to the Divinity Department of the University of Glasgow,

(b) The book does not deal with politics but it only examines the relations between Church and State starting from the foundation of the Christian church in Cyprus up to the catastrophe of 1974, and

(c) The most important point raised in the book is about the three incompatible roles of Archbishop Makarios III, those of the Ethnarch, Archbishop and secular President.
The book does not directly examine the relations between the two communities so it is neither turgid nor one-sided.

Finally I refer to the excellent comments made about my book by historians, scholars and politicians both from Cyprus and abroad.
