Paphos despair at airport ‘bedlam’

CONTRACTORS have assured that road works on the approach to Paphos airport would be completed within days.

The work has been a major headache for coach drivers, prompting them to ask local deputy Costas Costantinou to enquire how long resurfacing would take.

Teenagers accused of sexual abuse of girl of six

TWO underage youths have been arrested after a complaint of sexual assault was made to Famagusta police.

The complaint centres on a six-year-old girl from one of the district’s villages, whose parents are separated.

A relative of the girl made the complaint three weeks ago, claiming the assault was perpetrated by a 16 and 17-year old, who know the girl’s mother.

Work begins to restore old Armenian cemetery

WORK for the reconstruction of the derelict old Armenian cemetery near the Ledra Palace is to begin in earnest next week.

A contract has been granted complete the renovation and construction of the cemetery, the tombs, the exterior wall as well as the chapel in the cemetery.

Fire services insist they did their best

THE FIRE Services yesterday denied that they could have done a better job in combating Wednesday’s massive blaze in the Larnaca and Limassol area.

Peyia hopes for its own Post Office at last

THE MAYOR of Peyia is hopeful that his seven-year wait for a post office may at last be coming to an end.

At present deliveries must come from the central post office in Paphos, delaying mail to the nearly 10,000 residents.
