Teenagers accused of sexual abuse of girl of six

TWO underage youths have been arrested after a complaint of sexual assault was made to Famagusta police.

The complaint centres on a six-year-old girl from one of the district’s villages, whose parents are separated.

A relative of the girl made the complaint three weeks ago, claiming the assault was perpetrated by a 16 and 17-year old, who know the girl’s mother.

Head of Famagusta CID John Kapnoulas said an investigation was immediately underway, with the help of forensic evidence.

The girl has been examined by a state doctor and is also being evaluated by a child psychologist.

The two youths were arrested on Thursday and are claiming their innocence.
