Women mugged by carnival thieves

TWO WOMEN in Limassol were mugged by men wearing carnival masks outside their residence, police said yesterday.

The incident occurred at midnight on Monday. The victims who are third-country nationals residing in Limassol, were standing outside the building where they live, when two unknown men attacked them, hit them, grabbed one of the women’s bag and ran away.

The bag, worth €40, contained a mobile phone, worth €50, a pair of glasses and €40 in cash.

The two women were transferred to Limassol General Hospital, where a doctor confirmed they sustained bruises and cuts to the face.

The assailants were wearing black clothes and carnival masks and are described as light-built and approximately 1.75m tall.

In a separate incident, a 44-year-old woman from Limassol reported a similar incident to police. The woman was walking on Manos Katrakis street in Limassol on Monday morning, when two unknown men wearing dark clothes and riding a bike approached her and grabbed her bag. The men then fled the scene.

The stolen bag contained €200 in cash and documents worth €40.

Limassol Police is investigating both cases.
