Sick Tassos told to stay home

PRESIDENT Tassos Papadopoulos has not been well over the past few days, according to the government spokesman, Vasilis Palmas.

“The President has caught a virus and doctors have advised him to stay at home for two to three days.

“I hope we can convince him to stay home tomorrow too, but I think this is unlikely,” Palmas said yesterday.

The President was last seen on Saturday on Sigma TV, while his persistent cough during the televised debate last Thursday could not go unnoticed.

He cancelled his appearance on CyBC on Sunday, and Monday saw his announced programme was also cancelled.

A scheduled book launch appearance at 1pm and a visit to Ayios Dometios coffee shops at 6pm never occurred, while his TV appearance on Mega channel later that night was also annulled.

It appears that the combined workload of the Presidency and of his campaign for re-election has taken its toll on the 75-year old who reportedly works 16 hours a day.
