Man of 51 held for sex with 15-year-old

A 51-YEAR-old man is under investigation for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl, Limassol police said.
The man, who is from Paralimni, has allegedly confessed to having had sex with the teenager over the past four months, but claims the intercourse was consensual.
The suspect was arrested after the incident was reported by the girl’s parents, who confronted her on Thursday night in the wake of her increasing absences from home.
The 15-year-old then told her parents that she had been having sex with the older man. Her parents reported the incident to police and the social welfare services.
Limassol police chief Tassos Economides said: “A 51-year-old man is under investigation for sexually abusing a 15-year-old. The suspect has admitted he’s guilty and the case is being investigated.”

The alleged abuse took place between last December and April in open areas where the suspect used to take the teenager by car.
The 51-year-old was yesterday remanded in custody for eight days, police said.
