Teens ignoring safe sex message

THE majority of sexually active adolescents start having sex before they are 16, with one in 10 admitting to having had intercourse at 13.

Only half of those same school children, always use a condom, with one in 10 admitting to having had an unwanted pregnancy and a smaller percentage claiming to have contracted a sexual transmitted disease at some point.

Language and the Peyia election

I have noticed that in your December 10 edition you published a paid announcement from the “Concerned residents of Peyia”, who criticise the efforts I am jointly making with the mayor of Peyia Mr Neophytos Akoursiotis to overcome the language barrier in case, as is highly likely, a continental resident is elected to the new municipal council of Peyia.

On Monday, our dog was poisoned, along with two other dogs on the same quiet street in Paralimni. Within a short block, three dogs and a cat, helpless animals, were attacked.

We were very fortunate, our dog survived the attack effected in our very own yard, described as the worst case seen by our vet.
