Court acquits man accused of molesting his stepdaughter

A MAN suspected of having molested and attempting to rape his 12-year-old stepdaughter was yesterday acquitted by a Nicosia Court.

On July 24, Judge Charalambos Charalambous had remanded the 53-year-old suspect for five days in light of the preliminary police investigations and the severity of the charges.

Sarris: Lebanon evacuees costing Cyprus £100,000 per day

FINANCE MINISTER Michalis Sarris said yesterday that the Republic of Cyprus is paying up to £100,000 on a daily basis on overtime, means of transport and other expenses to serve the foreign citizens evacuating Lebanon, adding however that Cyprus can cope with this cost.

Reshuffle anticipated in semi-governmental organisations

THE GOVERNMENT yesterday put off announcing the names of the 22 new semi-government boards until Monday but by last night some of the names had already leaked out.

According to state television CyBC, at least three of the organisations would have new chairmen, its own, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) and the Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOK).
