Counterfeiting public servant gets suspended sentence

A PUBLIC servant was yesterday given a three-year suspended sentence by a Nicosia Court after pleading guilty to charges of forging army documents.

The 55-year-old man, who works at the state laboratory and who is a reservist of the National Guard, had pleaded guilty to 24 charges of forging military documents so he could skip work days between 2000 and 2003.

Joyriders suspected in car theft case

POLICE WERE yesterday investigating the theft and vandalism of two cars in a Nicosia district village, which is believed to be the work of delinquents.

The incident took place in Geri sometime between Wednesday night and the early hours of Thursday morning, they said.

Lanitis to de-list after takeover

SHARES IN Cypriot Coca-Cola bottler Lanitis Bros will be suspended from March 20 pending its de-listing from the Cyprus bourse after its takeover by Greece’s CCHBC , the stock exchange said yesterday. Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Co. (CCHBC) mounted the bid for Lanitis through Cypriot subsidiary 3E (Cyprus). It owned 95.53 percent of Lanitis, the exchange said in a statement.
