Cocktail f the week with Fabrizio Musorella

Egg Nog
This traditional Christmas morning drink is considered an essential part of the festivities. In the American south, it is served mainly as a hot cocktail, using bourbon instead of brandy and rum. The name Egg Nog probably comes from noggin, a small mug used to serve Flips (another type of drink belonging to the same family). There are many variations of this drink which include the Baltimore Eggnog, the Eggnog Screamer and the Vacation Eggnog. It’s a splendid holiday party fare and my antidote for the season of jangled nerves and credit-card shock.

Ingredients
3cl brandy
3cl dark rum
1 egg
1 tsp sugar
10cl milk
Freshly grated nutmeg

Preparation
Pour all the ingredients except the milk and nutmeg in a shaker filled with ice.
Shake vigorously and strain into a goblet glass. Top up with milk and stir. Sprinkle with fresh nutmeg and serve.
