Bar review: All Sports Bar, Larnaca

By Andreas Vou

As the peak of the summer season draws to a close, the people of Larnaca, as elsewhere, are reluctantly but surely getting back into their usual routine. The long days spent at the beach may be over but in downtown Larnaca lies a cozy, family-run bar that could brighten up anyone’s day.

Situated directly opposite the Finikoudes beach is a small bar that has stood there for decades but often goes unnoticed. All Sports Bar, as its name suggests, is a bar for sports lovers but also for those who enjoy having a drink in a friendly environment. There are a wide range of both local and imported beers to choose from as well as all the common spirits at very fair prices.

The end of summer also means that the football season is back upon us so fans of the sport who are looking for a local hangout to keep track of their team’s ongoings needn’t look further. The interior boasts one of the largest collections of old football shirts you will ever see, in addition to other memorabilia from years gone by.

Most of the customers are either British expats or Cypriots who were raised in the UK while it also gathers a fair amount of tourists, yet a fair share of locals are frequent visitors too. The age range tends to predominantly be 25-40 but a number of youths are present during important sporting events. The pub is fully-equipped with all necessary satellite channels from around the globe as well as Sky TV.

English football tends to gather the most interest on the weekends with games being broadcast throughout the day. There is a tense and lively atmosphere with friendly banter between fans of different teams which makes for a great viewing experience. European games are also shown without fail, making All Sports Bar perhaps the most reliable bar in town for sports fans.
