Electricity tariff reduction extended

THE ENERGY regulator, CERA, has decided to extend for a further two months a five per cent reduction on the basic tariff payable to the electricity authority.

This is the second extension and the third consecutive period during which CERA has ordered the authority to charge a lower rate on their basic tariff, given Cyprus’ crippling debt crisis.

The original decision dates back to April 12.

The regulator will review that decision in due time to decide whether another extension was justified.
