Downer hosts dinner

UN Special Adviser Alexander Downer hosted a dinner on Tuesday night for the negotiators from the two sides, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Osman Ertuğ.

The dinner was to be of a preparatory nature, UNFICYP Spokesman Michel Bonnardeaux said.

Bonnardeaux confirmed that the dinner was taking place but he did not reveal the location, noting that it would be held “somewhere neutral”.

This, he added, was the first meeting between the two negotiators.

Replying to a question as to the agenda of discussions during the dinner, he said that the dinner would be preparatory ahead of a resumption of Cyprus talks slated for mid October.
