Third Cyprus pride parade kicks off

Cyprus’ third Pride festival kicked off Sunday evening after it was postponed on Saturday due to unsettled weather conditions, though the after-party still took place in Nicosia.

The pride parade began at around 5.30pm and followed a route on main roads in the capital. Earlier events at the municipal gardens included face-painting for children, which began at around 3pm at the gardens.

After the march, the event was addressed by the president of Accept-LGBT Cyprus, Costas Gavrielides and 17 other speakers including politicians. This will be followed by live music, food and dancing.
