ELAM most popular in Politikou

A total of 26 constituencies gave ELAM a double digit percentage of votes in the parliamentary elections, although the party lost ground in Paphos compared to the 2014 European Parliament elections, but gained more support in Nicosia and Limassol.

Specifically, two years ago ELAM had 27 constituencies whose votes garnered double digit percentages.

There were 16 in Paphos, seven in Limassol two in Nicosia and two in Larnaca.

On Sunday, the 26 constituencies with double digit percentages were 11 in Paphos, nine in Limassol, five in Nicosia and one in Larnaca.

The most popular area of support was Politikou community in Nicosia, where the party chairman Christos Christou was born, where the party garnered 36.9 per cent of the votes.

Letymbou in Paphos was in second place with 30.7 per cent followed by Gerasa in Limassol with 26.9 per cent.

Popular ELAM support was also in Denia village with 19 per cent, Lemona and Nikoklia Paphos communities with 18.2 and 17.5 per cent respectively and Avdellero village in Larnaca with 17.4 per cent.

In Ayios Amvrosios and Dora, Limassol, the party received 15.8 and 15.6 per cent of votes with 15.2 in Milikouri, Nicosia.

ELAM also managed to celebrate a lot of support in Famagusta areas, particularly Paralimni where the newly elected MP Linos Papagiannis hails from with 7.3 per cent (455 votes). Liopetri and Xilofagou had 6.1 per cent.

Kolosi, Limassol where one of the candidates hails from, gave ELAM 14.4 per cent or 136 votes.
