Representatives for Maronites and Latins declared

The Representatives of the religious groups of Maronites Yiannakis Mousas, and Latins Antonella Mantovani were declared at the Philoxenia Conference Centre, in Nicosia on Sunday evening.

During a proclamation ceremony, Returning Officer for the representatives of the religious groups of Maronites, Armenians and Latins, Constantinos Nicolaides, declared first Mantovani and then Mousas as the representatives of the Latins and the Maronites respectively and noted that their names would be subsequently published in the official government gazette.

The Representative of the Armenian religious group to the Cyprus House of Representatives Vartkes Mahdessian whose candidacy was unopposed, was declared on May 5.

Armenians, Maronites and Latins, who belong to the Greek Cypriot community, elect their representatives to the House but they do not have the right to vote.

In statements to CNA Mantovani said she wished to strengthen her religious group and to get everyone more involved. She also expressed the hope that they know she will always stand by them and that they can always come to her with their ideas and suggestions.

On his part Mousas called for unity among Maronites.
