Limassol man on remand for sending inappropriate texts to niece, 16

A 48-year-old man in Limassol was behind bars on Easter Sunday after he was arrested for allegedly sending text messages “of sexual content” to his 16-year-old niece.

By Monday, he was serving his second day of the five day remand order.

The 16-year-old, who is the suspect’s brother’s daughter, told her parents for the past year, her uncle had been sending her inappropriate text messages and threatened he would kill her if she told police.

One parent accompanied her to a local police station in Limassol to give  a statement after which the uncle was arrested.
