Bondholders to stage demo on Monday

SYKALA, the association representing some of the ex-Laiki depositors that lost all money in their bank accounts in excess of €100,000 in the March 2013 bail-in, will be staging a demonstration on Monday afternoon outside the presidential palace coinciding with a press conference on the economy by President Nicos Anastasiades.

“We must all fight to win the struggle for restitution. Do not expect that our problem will be solved only through deliberations and meetings with politicians,” read a statement released by the group ahead of the demo.

“The state pretends to care, but after three years the result has been nil. Whatever has been achieved [in the economy] was achieved with stolen money, our savings, our provident funds…”
