Square works cause chaos in Nicosia

Nicosia traffic was plunged into chaos on Tuesday after central roads were closed by the municipality.

The roads were closed as work continues on Eleftheria square and its surroundings. The works will continue on Wednesday.

During this time, only one lane in Omirou avenue is open – from Solomou square to Evagoras avenue. From Omirou avenue vehicles will have to turn right onto Evagoras avenue. It is not possible to drive from Omirou avenue to Stasinou avenue.

Also, on Stasinou avenue there will be one lane from the D’Avila moat to Evagoras avenue.

According to an announcement by the municipality there are signs and traffic signals to facilitate the movement of drivers and pedestrians.

The municipality expressed its regrets for any inconvenience for residents and visitors to the area.
