House extends road tax deadline until March 31(Update 2)

The payment portal for renewing road tax crashed on Thursday after scores of people tried to meet the deadline.

It took several hours to fix it but it was back up and running in the afternoon. Later parliament passed a new extension for payment until March 31.

A separate statement from the road transport department earlier in the day said vehicle owners that had overdue debts until December 31, 2015 could pay the amount in 12 installments.

The application can be submitted online via the department website.
