Limassol carnival to get stricter on floats and groups

THOSE not abiding by the rules may be banned from participating in the upcoming carnival parade, the Limassol municipality warned on Friday.

After some groups broke the ground rules last year, the municipality said this year it will not allow offending groups or floats from starting from the Enaerios junction and may intercept them at a later stage with the help of police and security guards.

The main rules to be followed during the parade are that the number of participants in each group should not exceed 500 and a large amount of alcohol is not allowed on the floats.

There should also be no DJ on the vehicles, and broadcasting music is forbidden. The loudspeakers of all floats must be tuned into the radio frequency broadcasting music for the parade.

According to the municipality, the rules were given to the participants the day they registered and they were notified again recently.
