Leaders’ Monday meeting postponed to facilitate negotiators

President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci’s scheduled meeting on Monday has been postponed because a preparatory meeting between the two sides’ negotiators, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami, needs to take place beforehand, government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides tweeted on Friday.

“Monday’s meeting will not take place due to the fact that the negotiators’ preparatory meeting must be held in advance,” Christodoulides tweeted.

Mavroyiannis and Nami were in Brussels on Thursday for contacts concerning the preparation of the implementation of the acquis communautaire throughout the island after a settlement.

Christodoulides told the Cyprus News Agency that the negotiators will meet on Monday, and the date of the next leaders’ meeting will be agreed there.
