Kyprianou to meet Davutoglu as well

DURING his visit to Turkey AKEL leader Andros Kyprianou will be seeing Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in addition to a scheduled meeting with the country’s foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Kyprianou, currently on a stopover in Athens, departs for Istanbul on Friday. He is due back on the island on Sunday.

He will be accompanied by a party delegation comprised of Toumazos Tsielepis and Marina Savva.

On Thursday, Kyprianou held talks in Athens with Greece’s foreign minister Nikos Kotzias.

Speaking to reporters later, Kyprianou revealed that Davutoglu “has also expressed an interest in meeting us.”

Cyprus would be the sole issue on the agenda, he said; likewise for a roundtable discussion to be held at Istanbul University in Friday.

An unnamed Greek foreign ministry source cited by the Cyprus News Agency stressed the importance of Davutoglu’s addition to the list of Turkish officials meeting with Kyprianou.

“This fact alone indicates that developments on the Cyprus issue are moving very rapidly,” the same official was quoted as saying.
