Konia man arrested for cheating residents

A man employed by Konia village authority has been arrested for suspected thieving.

According to CID Paphos, the 35-year-old appears to have taken money from members of the community under false pretences, by apparently charging them to upgrade or install water meters and taking off with the money. He is believed to have deceived ten villagers.

According to police enquiries he has so far frauded people out of €3,900.

He has denied any involvement in the case.

Police said he is expected to be charged and released.
