President to pay official visit to Jordan and then visit Israel and Palestine

President Nicos Anastasiades will pay an official visit to Jordan next week and will then head to Israel and Palestine.

According to an official press release, the president, who will be accompanied by foreign minister Ioannis Kasoulides and government spokesman Nikos Christodoulides, will on Tuesday meet the Mayor and the Governor of Amman. Later, on the same day, they will visit the Chamber of Commerce of Amman to meet Jordanian and Cypriot businessmen.

On Wednesday the President and first lady Andri Anastasiades will be officially received by King of Jordan Abdullah II and Queen Rania.

The President and King Abdullah will hold a private meeting, which will be followed by expanded talks of the delegations of the two countries.

Among the issues to be discussed are the Cyprus problem, energy, migration, regional developments and the relations between Jordan and the EU.

The King will then host an official lunch in President Anastasiades’ honour.

In the afternoon of the same day, Anastasiades will meet the Prime Minister of Jordan Dr Abdullah Nsour.

On Thursday, Anastasiades will travel to Malta to attend the Informal European Council which will convene with the refugee crisis as the main issue.

On Friday Anastasiades will be in Jerusalem, where he will meet Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Later he will travel to Ramallah, where he will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
