SIMERINI: “New theft of evidence”. Thieves broke into an evidence storage warehouse at Dherynia police station in the Famagusta district and made off with two motorbikes. The assailants cut through the wire chains used to lock the only entry point into the warehouse, which is situated just 25 metres away from the police station itself. The motorbikes were involved in a recent road accident and after being impounded, were set to be destroyed.

ALITHIA: “Cypriots involved in counterfeit ring”. Greek police arrested two Cypriot men in possession of thousands of counterfeit hundred dollar bills on Monday. According to police information, the duo appears to be involved in a counterfeit ring and machinery used to make the counterfeit money was found in a flat in Athens. Their arrest was made possible following information Cypriot police gave their Greek counterparts.

PHILELEFTHEROS: “Child given dangerous medication”. The mother of a six-month-old baby has filed a complaint with the Health Ministry accusing a Kyperounda hospital pharmacist of giving her child dangerous medication last month. According to the complaint, the pharmacist gave the mother suppositories for her child without writing the dosage on the packet. The infant soon became very ill and had to be rushed to Makarios hospital for treatment having suffered side effects from the medication.

MACHI: “They’re looking but they’re not buying”. Consumers might be flocking to car dealers since cars prices dropped, but they are not buying any. According to salesmen, the number of people visiting showrooms is not representative of the number of sales being made. Instead dealers will have to wait a couple of months before sales comparisons can be made, they said.

POLITIS: “Antonis Karas challenges Akkelidou”. House Health Committee chairman and DISY deputy Antonis Karas called for Health Minister Dina Akkelidou to make public her “written and clear instructions” to private clinics inspector Constantinos Mallis, in which she claims to have ordered him to terminate a Limassol clinic’s operation. Karas said if Akkelidou were unable to bring forward these instructions, he would be compelled to believe that she had been behind the calling off of all proceedings against the unlicensed gynaecology clinic.

HARAVGHI: “Following a kidnapping came attempted rape and robbery”. Police are looking for a 45-year-old man believed to be involved in the kidnapping of a 10-year-old girl from Dhali on Sunday, the attempted rape of a 32-year-old Limassol woman on Monday and a restaurant robbery. The man, whose identity is known to police, has been involved in several serious crimes in the past and is a known drug user.
