Duties fall but prices rise

I’ve recently been looking to upgrade my TV system and one item I intend to buy is a combined hard disk/DVD video recorder. The Panasonic HS2 is interesting, and one shop in Nicosia quoted me £995.

I thought I would check the web and in the UK (dealtime.co.uk) I found it from £533 to £700 sterling (about 440575 Cyprus pounds) and on a Dutch site (bestekeus.nl) it was 999 euros (about 580 Cyprus pounds).

I use this one example, but I have found increasingly over the past year or two that as duties come down to European norms, the price here falls at first only to recover with a vengeance later.
