Israeli boat found close to Haifa

A missing catamaran with two Israelis on board was found early on Saturday morning 30 nautical miles from Haifa after a joint search and rescue operation by Cypriot and Israeli authorities the defence ministry said.

The search, underway since Friday when the catamaran was expected to dock at Haifa was completed on Saturday at 1:30am with no immediate dangers.

Jerusalem Post, citing the Israeli army radio said the two individuals were found safe and sound.
The vessel had set of from the Limassol marina on Wednesday at 12:30pm. When the vessel did not reach its destination on Friday, Israeli authorities notified the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) in Larnaca at around 1pm.

A helicopter was deployed to the area and vessels between Cyprus’ and Israel’s sea area were informed to look out for the catamaran.
