..thus, with a kiss I survive

By Maria Gregoriou

The idea of changing a classical story and flipping it around in a post-modern attempt to breathe new life into it is nothing new, but what happens when you assume that a main character lived beyond the end of the story?

The play …and Juliet by Akis Dimou asks just that by having Juliet live after Romeo poisons himself.

On a stage alone, Juliet speaks of the loss of love and the solitude of having to now live a life knowing that she has lost the love of her life – now a life of existing in that love’s shadow.

…and Juliet
