Police probe cocaine find at Limassol port

THE DRUGS Squad was yesterday still questioning suspects in connection with the discovery at Limassol port of eight kilos of cocaine inside a container bound for South Africa on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, police found the cocaine wrapped in nylon bags hidden between granite blocks.
Drugs Squad Superintendent Haritos Yiangou told the Larnaca News Agency the container had arrived at Limassol from Brazil and was scheduled to be shipped on by a local forwarding company to South Africa.
Police said they would extend their investigations abroad to determine how the container escaped customs control in Brazil and in an effort to identify the shipment=s recipient in South Africa.
