Limassol murder remains a mystery

REASONS behind the murder of retired teacher Theodoris Grigoriou on Friday night are still being investigated, according to the police.

“We are looking at a crime that was very well-planned but we don’t have enough substantial evidence to reveal to the public as yet,” Deputy chief of the police Charalambos Koulentis said yesterday.

Asked if the crime had anything to do with reports suggesting the victim had financial disputes, Koulentis replied: “That suspicion among others is being currently investigated. We are examining all the evidence and eyewitness accounts to try and reach some conclusion”

State pathologist Panicos Stavrianos who examined the body of the 60-year-old has revealed that Grigoriou received three shots to the head and one shot to the left shoulder.

Police reports suggest that the killer was waiting for Grigoriou as he returned home and then shot him in the shoulder before shooting him three times in the head after Grigoriou approached the culprit. Police also suspect that the killer made off on foot before being picked up by a man driving a black car.
