Standing up for Cyprus builders

Sir,
I am writing in response to the letter from Peter Davis about “shoddy building work” in Cyprus.

I moved to Cyprus in August of this year having bought a new house from A.

Chacholis Developers. Of course, I’ve had the usual teething problems with a new house – and I do try so hard to live the Cyprus way, siga, siga. I have been frustrated, yes, but after all that is why we love your country: no stress or strain on time.

Anyway, when things were not being completed (only small things) I contacted the director of Chacholis (and I am sure directors are I never aware of small problems). I have been so impressed – hey presto, suddenly workmen here, jobs being finished and done well. My small complaints were treated with kindness and respect – oh! not to be a fussy English woman – but everything has been and is being done perfectly.

My advice to readers when buying a house is that maybe the most important thing is recommendation from a friend; word of mouth really is the best form of advertising.
Just thought I should fly the Cyprus flag for builders here – they really do want to help – we just have to get onto their wavelength.

A happy buyer
