Luggage delivery in Paphos beyond a joke

Sir,
The standing joke about the recovery of luggage at Paphos airport taking half as long as the air flight time from some distant European city is wearing very thin.

Waiting up to two hours for luggage offers a poor start indeed to visitors arriving for a holiday, even if their flight lands on time, which all too often it does not, and simply adds to the perception that Cyprus is no longer the delight it once was.

The luggage handlers say: “it’s not our fault – it’s the system”. So what system is this which can cause such ludicrous delays? The Cyprus Tourist Authority and other appropriate departments of government should make a concerted effort to examine the problem before next season, and sort it out.
If they ignore this situation Paphos will have its visitor base statistics further eroded.
