Animal cruelty happens in the UK too

Sir,
You have always highlighted in your paper anything that makes big publicity about the cruelty to animals by any Cypriot.

It always makes headline news and it does maximum damage to this country generally due to the fact that your newspaper is the only English Language daily on Cyprus Airways flights and the only one tourists are able to read as well all the expatriate community.

You are presenting the deeds of a few idiots as if they were the pastime of all Cypriots.

I read your paper daily, as well as many British papers but have never seen an article written about cruelty to animals in the UK, and the incidents there are numerous.

Take this example, published on the BBC website on Wednesday, under the headline “Dead rabbits piled up on roadside”:

“Fifty rabbits found dead on a roadside were shot with air rifles, the Wildlife Rescue and Ambulance Service has said.

“Some did not die instantly and were hit over the head, spokesman Trevor Weeks said on Wednesday.

“He said the animals had blood coming from their ears, noses and mouths. Wildlife campaigners took two bodies to a vet to establish the cause of death.

“The dead rabbits were found on the side of the A26 between South Heighton and Southease, near Newhaven, East Sussex.”

May I suggest that if this had occurred in Cyprus It would have taken your front page.
