Poll says Lillikas is the fairest of them all

TOURISM Minister George Lillikas and United Democrats deputy Androulla Vassiliou are the most attractive politicians on the island, according to men and women who were polled last week by AC Nielsen.

According to the poll, which was published yesterday in Politis, nine per cent of women and seven per cent of men gave Lillikas the thumbs up from the island’s limited political gene pool, while 25 per cent of women and 20 per cent of men think Vassiliou is a babe among female deputies.

Second in line in the ‘sexiest politician’ stakes was DISY leader Nicos Anastassiades, but more men than women think he’s attractive. AKEL leader Demetris Christofias came a surprising third, again with more men than women believing he is attractive.

A similar vote went to DISY deputy Prodromos Prodromou with twice as many men as women thinking he is an attractive man. Along with Lillikas, only Agriculture Minister Timis Efthymiou, in fifth place, was deemed more attractive by women than men.

President Tassos Papadopoulos, sixth and last on the list, also received twice as many votes from men than women – only two per cent of whom considered him attractive.

Second in the female line-up was DIKO deputy Antigoni Papadopoulou but more women than men considered her attractive. More men thought AKEL deputy and House Environment Committee Chairperson Eleni Mavrou, in third place, was more attractive.

Katy Clerides was considered attractive only by the men polled, six per cent of whom voted her into fourth place, while DISY’s Eleni Theocharous was voted attractive by four per cent of men and only two per cent of women. Another DISY lady, blonde Maria Kyriacou garnered only three per cent from men and one per cent from women in the poll.

A quick poll at the Cyprus Mail revealed Kyriacou as the choice for the most attractive of the bunch amongst both men and women, followed by Vassiliou. The choice of attractive men on the list was also limited but the top votes went to Anastassiades and Efthymiou.

The AC Nielsen poll was carried out between August 3-5 and surveyed 400 people.
It also found that women considered the sexiest job for a man was being in the military. Almost the same number of men said the same.

This was followed by doctor, lawyer, footballer, singer, athlete, bank employee and actor, though more men than women thought being an actor, singer or footballer was an attractive career for a man.

Being a model topped the list of sexy careers for 13 per cent of women, but only three per cent of men agreed. More women than men thought being a teacher, which was second on the list, was an attractive choice, and they both agreed equally on being a lawyer, putting it in third place.

Women were also more impressed with being a bank employee as a career than a singer. The same applied to acting, while only four per cent of both men and women thought being a doctor was an attractive job for a woman. However, five per cent of women thought being a government employee would be an attractive proposition for a female compared to only two per cent of men.
