Why do we have to see Greek flags everywhere?

Sir,

May I remind all Greek Cypriots that the free areas of Cyprus are supposed to represent all of Cyprus, so, we should be setting a good model of a bilingual EU-state to counter Turkish Cypriot for separatism.
Instead we are doing the opposite.

Why are we displaying Greek flags everywhere? Why do we sing the Greek National Anthem? And why do we call ourselves “Greek”; and not Cypriot?

Every year, the same celebrations of Greekness become more loud and tacky and have less substance. The theme is ‘how may I better serve my egotistical tendencies with this national holiday as my excuse?’ Hey, maybe by flapping one of those government-building-size sheet flags from one’s truck?

Patriotism should be subtle and enduring: small, non-obtrusive, and of course, the flags above parliament, not displaying flags in gaudy excess: flags on cars, cheeseburger wrappers, socks, beach towels, and even on the walls of multi-storey buildings!
