CyTA strike over dispute

CYPRUS Telecommunication Authority (CyTA) unions yesterday held a two-hour strike over differences between them and management.

According to a CyTA press release two out of three unions decided to go ahead with the strike, after disagreements emerged during negotiations between them and the management on a series of matters brought up by the unions. The strike was held between 12.15pm and 2.15pm yesterday.

CyTA said it considers the measures “hasty” at the present stage because “despite the fact that negotiations are ongoing, the main issues are still pending before the Labour Ministry’s Mediation Services”.

The press released added that the work stoppage was a violation of an agreement between social partners, which regulates the procedure of solving work differences using essential services.
