Studied Medicine at the university of Lyons, France. Served as Government Spokesman in the Clerides administration from 1993 to 1997; was later appointed Foreign Minister, a position he retained until February 2003.

Panayiotis Demetriou
Received 24,589 preference votes
Studied Law in London. One of the founding members of DISY (1976). Has served as an observer in the European Parliament since April 2003.

AKEL

Adamos Adamou
Received preference 30,290 votes
Studied Medicine in Athens, specialising in Oncology. Became an AKEL deputy in March 2003. Sits on the following House committees: European Affairs, the Environment, Health.

Kyriacos Triantafylides
Received preference 27,766 votes
Graduate and postgraduate studies in New Zealand, where he taught English and Social Sciences for three years. Served in senior various posts in the civil service.

Received preference 24,839 votes
An active member of the 1955-59 EOKA uprising. Chairman of DISY from 1993 to 1997. Participated in the congress of European Popular Party government heads from 1994 to 1996.

Marios Matsakis
Received 27,371 preference votes
Graduate and postgraduate studies (England) in Microbiology, Forensic Medicine, Biochemistry. Has been employed as a coroner in Cyprus since 1994. Elected DIKO deputy in 1996, re-elected 2001.
