Dog mauls six at Makarios rally

A 42-YEAR-OLD Limassol man was arrested after his German Shepherd attacked and injured six people, including four teenagers, at a rally yesterday.

Police said the man was arrested for committing an act of negligence and thoughtlessness after he failed to take all necessary precautions to ensure his canine was not a danger to others. The incident took place during a procession in honour of Archbishop Makarios on Kosti Palama street in Limassol.

The six people, including four 16-year-old female students and two teachers, aged 38 and 48, were taken to Limassol general hospital where duty doctors confirmed they had suffered wounds to various parts of their bodies. Police said the dog owner was charged in writing and released.
