New reductions in cost of international calls

CYTA is set to lower the price of international calls by up to 84 per cent on some lines from February 1.

Calls to Greece, Britain and the USA from a landline to a landline will be slashed by 21 per cent. The cost of calls to Germany will be cut by 34 per cent.

The greatest reductions – 84 per cent – will be made to calls to Surinam, Swaziland and Turkmenistan.

Calls to the Philippines, which had gone up in August 2003 from 10 cents per minute to 13 cents per minute, will now see a reduction of eight per cent. Calls will now cost 11.94 cent per minute.

Calls made to Sri Lanka will fall by only one per cent from 14 cents per minute to 13.92, while calls to Pakistan will be lowered from 17 cents per minute to 15.96 cents per minute.

There will be a cut of 25 per cent in the cost of calls made to Turkey, from 12 cents per minute to nine.

Calls made from a mobile phone to a landline in Britain, USA and Greece will be reduced from eight cents per minute to 6.96 cents per minute.

Calls from a mobile phone to another mobile in Greece will be lowered from 21 cents per minute to 17.94 cents per minute.
